The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
